“Like many young kids, what Chris Coombs wanted was cool, expensive stuff. But, pricey clothes and toys were not a priority for his working-class poor parents. So, the eleven-year-old enthusiastically went to work at a seafood shack owned by friends of the family. It was there, where the young Coombs cleaned grease traps, that his fervor for kitchen work fired up.

Now, he’s an award-winning chef and co-owner of Boston Urban Hospitality which owns three successful restaurants: dbar, Deuxauve and Boston Chops. This month, another Boston Chops will open.”
